Therapy and PDA's

Occupational Therapy Made Easier

Medical downloads for the pda have improved the life of both patients and doctors of all kinds. These freeware software downloads make many types of medical conditions much easier to manage. For instance, occupational therapy and pdas can now be synonymous. Occupation therapy is a type of therapy used to help people who have been injured in an accident regain the use of their bodies so that they can return to their job or train for a new job if they are unable to perform their previous job.

Using a pocket pc, a therapist can schedule patients so that their day is full without being overfull. They can make sure that any appointments do not have conflicts, and can schedule in their personal appointments, as well.

Occupational therapy patients can use their ipaq to remind themselves of appointments, track their progress, and get information about the latest trends in occupational therapy. All of this can be done simply and easily with one of the many freeware medical downloads available on the Internet.

The medical software is easy to use and allows for updates from the software company so that when the product is improved or changed, the consumer can receive at no additional charge. This type of medical software can be an option when buying a pocket pc from companies such as Compaq or HP or others. Making lives easier is perhaps the most important function of the pda, and the medical field is one area that can always use improvement.

Search Engines

You have your site into the search engines, but where are all the visitors? As a webmaster or site owner, you have probably received the email ads or seen advertisements of “guaranteed search engine rankings and more visitors” and so on. It sounds really good, until you see the price tag, and the rest of this article. Are there other forms of advertising and better ways to get traffic?

Good search engines can do a variety of things for a variety of people. They provide ease when the user is trying to find something online. Without search engines, the internet would not be the same. It would be much more complicated. Now, with all the hype about search engines and the visitors they can bring, “Is it possible?”

First off, any program offering a guaranteed ranking is a scam. Google’s search results are based upon PageRank and relevancy. It is an automated process. Google does not have the thousands of people needed to manually set a site’s ranking for each individual keyword. Let’s examine the term “ranking.” You site will have a many “rankings.” It will have a different ranking for every keyword in the site. For instance, if a user searches “dog tricks,” your site may come up at number seventeen. If you also offer webmaster tools and a user searches “adopting a puppy,” your site could show up as the four-hundredth site in Google’s list. How can an optimization company guarantee a certain ranking? They can not! They can guarantee a ranking (every site has a ranking), what that ranking is, no one can tell. Sure, rankings do affect how many visitors you will get through search engines, but the safest way to get those visitors is to offer something unique, have a variety of good content, and use search engine friendly URLs. Do not be fooled by those scams and fake promises. That leads us to the solution, how you can get visitors through search engines.

To get results with search engines, there are three things you must have. The first is good content. If a website is filled with a bunch of banner ads and links, it will not have a good ranking. A website needs “meat.” It needs content and a focus. Your website can cover a general topic like “Computers and Internet” (I wouldn’t recommend it) but do not try to cover everything on the planet like About.com. Second, your site needs incoming links. These links are not one’s you exchange with other companies. Exchanging links can even be harmful. Engine’s spiders can now detect those and they have next to no relevancy. If a visitor likes you site, they could add a link to you on their site or tell their friend. Another way to gain links is submitting content, which is explained later in the article. Third, make clear what your website is about. Use your keywords (words that tell a user what your site is about) throughout your page. Although some search engines are moving away from Meta tags, you will still want to use them. Choose a descriptive title and write a good description. The keywords aren’t so important provided you use them in the content of your site.

If your site can not seem to get a high search engine ranking and you want visitors then you have two options. First, a site owner can choose to pay for visitors through something such as a Pay-Per-Click program, like Google’s AdWords. This is the safest way to go because it is guaranteed visitors through a trusted company, but it will cost you. It will cost a couple cents a click which will add up in the long run. If you choose this type of campaign, make sure you have signed up with a quality and respected company which has many places to publish your ad, like Google or Yahoo. Pay-per-click campaigns are great if you have money, but if money is an issue settle for another form of advertising.

Despite popular speculation and what advertising companies want you to think, you do not have to pay to get visitors. However, not paying could take longer to gain visitors. I would call it “free advertising for a particular service.” Visitors can come through submissions to other sites. If you have a particular talent, like building websites or writing, you can get visitors. Let’s use a talent for website designing as an example. You can build website templates (a webpage that has a preset design, which a site owner just adds content too) and submit them to free template sites. These sites will display your product but along with it they will display your link. Many free template sites accept submissions and I have seen traffic jump dramatically in as little as two days. If you can write articles, you can submit them to E-zine (online magazines) directories where E-zine publishers look for articles to publish. There are hundreds of categories to write about and there is more than likely a category for everyone. The E-zine will publish the author info and your site’s URL which in itself is a free advertisement.

Follow these guidelines, and you are on your way to gaining high-quality visitors to the site you own.

PC Performance

Are you frustrated with your PC?

Is it feeling sluggish or crawling at a snail's pace?

Are programs running slower than they used to?

Are you just plain fed up with frequent slowdowns, freezes or crashes?

Then it's time to stop what you're doing and optimize your system to improve PC performance!

Follow these 6 simple sure-fire tips to help improve PC performance and you'll be surprised by the results! Each comes with an indication of how often you should do it.

Improve PC Performance Tip #1:

CLEAN UP YOUR WINDOWS REGISTRY (Frequency = Daily)

This is an essential, but often overlooked, task to improve PC performance. In fact most PC users are unaware of the necessity to regularly clean the Registry as Microsoft does not include a cleanup tool in any version of Windows.

Every time a program is installed it makes changes to the Windows Registry - a huge internal database of Windows' settings. Virtually all Windows programs, and Windows itself, store a massive array of information inside the database. These thousands of entries control the behavior and appearance of virtually everything on your system.

Changes to your PC system are not always handled correctly in the Registry, leading to conflicts and the slowing down of your PC. Over time this leads to a bloated and possibly, corrupted Registry. Reasons for this include:

* frequently installing or uninstalling programs

* removing a program which leaves traces behind

* leftover entries from a hardware uninstall

* unused drivers on your system

* Spyware or similar programs that reappear every time you reboot

You can edit the Registry manually using a Windows program called Regedit, but this is really a job best left for hardened PC experts.

Thankfully, programs are available that can clean up your Registry automatically to help improve PC performance, such as "Registry Optimizer '06". This scans your Registry, looks for entries that are redundant or invalid and lists them so that they can be corrected with one mouse click. As an added bonus, to improve PC performance, it runs automatically in the background every time you start your PC.

Improve PC Performance Tip #2:

EMPTY THE RECYCLE BIN (Frequency = Weekly)

Regularly empty Windows' Recycle Bin.

This will release hard drive space and help improve PC performance.

When you choose to delete a file, rather than removing it completely from your computer, Windows first puts it into the Recycle Bin. This gives you a second chance, as it means you can restore flies from the Recycle Bin back to their original place on your computer.

To ensure optimum PC performance, empty your Recycle Bin weekly (or even daily). To do so, right-click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop, and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

Improve PC Performance Tip #3:

REMOVE PROGRAMS (Frequency = Monthly)

Installing programs is easy - but once you have, it's just as easy to end up leaving them languishing, forgotten, on your hard disk.

Most programs come with their own uninstaller. You'll find this under the program's entry in All Programs, from the Start menu.

If the program doesn't come with its own uninstaller, open Control Panel from the Start menu, and double-click Add/Remove Programs. Your PC will pause briefly while it gathers a list of all the programs you have installed.

Once it has done so, find the program you'd like to get rid of, click it and then select Change/Remove.

Be aware that some programs leave uninstalled traces all over the Windows Registry! Therefore, to improve PC performance after an uninstall, it's essential to clean the Registry.

Improve PC Performance Tip #4:

RUN DISK CLEAN UP (Frequency = Monthly)

Windows' Disk Clean Up is a fantastic built-in utility that automates regular maintenance tasks to improve PC performance, such as deleting Temporary Internet files, Setup log files, etc.

To start Disk Clean Up, double-click My Computer, right click on your 'C:' drive and then select Properties. Now click Disk Cleanup. Your computer will then spend a few moments analysing itself.

When it has completed the audit Windows will give you a list of areas where it has found files to cleanup. To clean an area, put a tick in the box next to it. To leave something intact, such as Temporary files, just remove the tick next to the item and click OK.

Your computer will then begin the removal process to improve PC performance - this can take some time.

Improve PC Performance Tip #5:

DISK DEFRAGMENTATION (Frequency = Quarterly)

When Windows stores programs on your PC hard disk it saves fragments of files in the nearest empty spaces.

This slows down your PC as it has to spend time hunting down the fragments and piecing files together.

There is a simple cure - running the Windows program Disk Defragmenter. This gathers together the fragments of programs and puts them back in the right order.

This makes it far easier for your hard disk to find what it's looking for, enabling programs and files to load more quickly - a sure-fired way for improving PC performance.

To defragment your hard disk click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools and then Disk Defragment. When the program has loaded, click Defragment.

The process can take well over an hour. Because defragmenting your hard disk takes such a long time, you really don't want to go through the process too often.

Defragment your hard disk every 3 months or so - this way you'll get the best results and optimize the performance of your PC.

Improve PC Performance Tip #6:

EMPTY THE PREFETCH CACHE (Frequency = Quarterly)

To improve the time it takes to load programs, Windows guesses which files are likely to be needed next and loads them into a pool or 'cache'.

This process is called prefetching, and it generally works well. Overtime, though, the prefetch cache can become clogged with files you no longer need - and that can slow down Windows' startup.

To clear Prefetch, choose Run from the Start menu, and enter Prefetch into the text box that appears. When you've done that, you'll be confronted by a window filled with icons. Press Alt+A to select them all and press Delete.

The cache will quickly refill with links and files that Windows really needs. As a result, your system will feel more responsive and benefit from a PC performance speed up.

So there you have it, 6 sure-fired PC performance tips to revitalize your PC. Now you know how to improve PC performance - simply follow these steps and repeat them regularly.

Marketing to Kids

Today's kid's are savvy, tech smart individuals who have grown up knowing about various gadgets and techy devices. They've all grown up with a computer in their home and in their schools, so they are no stranger to computers and the internet.

One of my students had a strong passion to teach young people how to use the internet and also discover how to create their own self-employment through affiliate marketing. I think this is a great idea. It's really important to let kids know about their options. Of course school is extremely important, but so is getting mentors and thinking outside of the box to create your own dream lifestyle. In this case my student wanted internet gurus to assist. It's a great idea. I would do it once. But I'm not going to do it all the time. However, as I said, I would do it once and I bet you could get other online gurus to do the same.

It's so important to expose kids to different things. It's amazing how smart they are and how much they can pick up. I'd have to agree with my student, providing opportunities through education and the teaching of internet marketing and affiliate marketing opens up their reality to a whole new world. Yes, they could work at McDonald's part-time after school, but they could also do affiliate marketing part-time and make residual income that way as well.

Getting other online gurus to do this is a pretty easy approach because it is "for the children." Using that alone, will get a lot more people to help out. Affiliate marketing is probably one of the best ways to use to educate kids about money opportunities. It's not always about the "j-o-b". They can have a passion for their work too. Affiliate marketing and all of the various niches available, can allow them to stay within their passion by promoting products that interest them.

You've got to understand kids today. They have been brought up with social media and I mean, blogging is probably going to be the key to having them really understand affiliate marketing. They "get" blogging, but I think they're going to understand it a lot better if you add affiliate marketing to the mix. That would be something that kids would gravitate too and enjoy. When you add money to the formula, everything looks great!
